The land of Lake Tahoe is full of cozy little villages and the town of Truckee is no exception. It carries the feeling of the old west, but has the fine touches of a Tahoe resort town. It is also the infamous location of the Donner Party disaster, so if you’re in the mood for a tragic and creepy bit of history, check out the Donner Party Memorial State Park.
Being outdoors is what Tahoe is all about, therefore, make sure to be prepared to get active for this year-round destination. In the summer, try your hand at fishing, golfing and sailing, and in the winter, make sure that you are ready to ski or snowboard until you drop. If off-slope activities are more your style, there is also an abundance of outdoor winter activities to partake in, such as snowshoeing, back country skiing and taking romantic sleigh rides.
Dining is never a problem in Truckee either, as there are plenty of fine restaurants, cozy pubs and five-star restaurants to keep your stomach happy for a long time. For a luxurious Tahoe vacation with the hometown feel of the old west, visit Truckee where you will be sure to return again and again.
