Deer Creek Golf Club looks like a nice course, but if you are going to play here, you had better be prepared to play target golf the entire day. This links-style course demands that you keep the ball in the fairway because there are so many natural hazards on this course that you can forget about retrieving your ball if you lose a tee shot. The rough is also very thick, and for intermediate handicappers and below, this course can be hell if you are not hitting the ball straight. That being said, this course is taken good care of, and it does have interesting scenery, mostly of preserved wetlands that will suck your ball up, and as a method of preservation, golfers are not allowed to go searching for lost balls in these areas. From what I’m told, this course gets a lot easier the second and third time you play it because there are several confusing tee shots, and on several holes, it is tough to decide what to hit off the tee. Just from playing this course once, I know that if I play it again, the driver will be used sparingly, and I will be hitting a lot of 4 iron shots from the tee. If you don’t mind playing target golf, and if you are a “straight-shooter,” you will enjoy this challenging course. Those who are known to be a little wild off the tee should be wary.
