Along the Mayan Riviera, you will find some of the most stunning beaches in the world, where you can either relax under a palm tree with a good book or take advantage of the variety of watersports on offer. Divers come to this area for the wonderful ocean scuba diving as well as cenote, cavern and cave diving. Fishing enthusiasts rave about the Mayan Riviera's deep sea fishing just off shore and others prefer to charter a boat or go sailing.
The Riviera Maya is also incredibly rich in culture and sightseeing spots. Make sure to plan a tour to one of the many magical historical sites in the area; from colorful colonial towns to breathtaking Maya Ruins, the region has much to offer the intrepid traveler.
The Peninsula is also a paradise for the nature and ecology lover. About half Mexico's bird species can be found in the region and there are fabulous tours available for bird watching. During the summer months, do not miss the chance to see sea turtles nesting on our beaches or to swim with whale sharks, as these gentle giants hide North to breed near Holbox Island.
